There is an idea going around the conservation world that has many passionate advocates.
It comes from the truth that in all but the deepest wilderness habitat for native animals is fragmented and patchy thanks to the need for humans to convert landscapes into places where we grow food and fibre.
The idea is that if we somehow connect these patches together with ‘corridors’ of vegetation it will help native animals survive.
Presumably, the thought is that animals will wander along the ‘corridor’ between the larger patches.
They don’t.
