Stiff upper lip

These days lips must be stiff

You have seen the lovely ladies whose lips enter the room a week before they do.

It is an extraordinary thing where women feel the need to make their lips look more like their labia majora. More peculiar still when there is a perception that big is best.

Only, as usual, the Confused One seems onto something more subtle.

In the vernacular the ‘stiff upper lip’ displays fortitude and stoicism in the face of adversity, or exercises great self-restraint in the expression of emotion, unlike the trembling upper lip that is a sure-fire sign of weakness…

and we can’t have that can we.

So would the injection be a way of hiding the insecurity.

Of course it is. Why else would people maim themselves is such a horrid way.

Hi, I'm Paul and I'm a chronicler.

I know it is a brave admission that is all thanks to the sayings and aphorisms of the Confused One. Bringing those slippery little suckers to you gives my life meaning.

Smile well, Paul
